YOUNG DEMOCRATS: WHO WANT TO BE? (Back to politics ...) On October 14 three and half million people have decided to take part in the primaries the Democratic Party, putting their trust and their hopes in this new political entity.
On 14 April, however, with the electoral victory of Berlusconi's coalition and center - right, has written a sad page in the history of Italian politics.
Today is time to react. The party must do and must do our young people.
For this you need to give birth soon to a youth movement of the Democratic Party, that that can involve large numbers of girls and boys who have shown interest to look to our draft, but who knows how to open a dialogue with that part of young people who have not won the last election. Feel the responsibility to meet the expectations and surprise the skeptics.
This requires that there is a break with the past.
Discontinuity means we are talking about real democracy within the party, transparency in the choices and behavior, always looking for ways that favor the request for participation, open to associations, individuals and groups in the neighborhoods of the cities or in small towns in the suburbs organize cultural and political activities. Words really do mean return to politics, not perched in the rooms of a home party, but in schools, universities, bars, in the square: the meeting places for young people. So here

ORGANIZATIONAL PRINCIPLES - INDEPENDENCE - The youth of the PD project adheres to the belief that Veltroni is offering, but does so in complete independence from the choices of the party. This autonomy includes both the content, so the chance to work on issues of their youth, both from an organizational standpoint, that has to do with for example the possibility of relating with associations or groups that promote activities for kids political and cultural, in the manner it deems appropriate or even with will be structured internally in a different way to the party. Autonomy also means that the youth must have a fixed annual budget to finance political activity, not subject to blackmail of any kind by the party. - PLACE OF TRAINING - The youth of PD as place of training. At a time when, as now happens, there is a lack of reference points, the new subject of juvenile PD should be responsible for providing the tools necessary for the formation of a critical conscience in young people. Renewed attention to content should therefore be able to characterize the lives of the youth of the PD as a place for debate, discussion and, therefore, training.
- TERRITORY - The Democratic Party and its youth movement must be able to stay on the ground, understand their bodies, and act accordingly. The youth must deal with those substantive issues that directly affect various areas of the province and the city of Padua, to be present in local clubs party, to elect their representatives in city councils, then bring in those locations with concrete proposals for solving problems involving children in drawing up these proposals. In short, politics, really.
SOME ISSUES - QUESTION MORAL / LEGAL ': They must be among the priorities of our political action. The youth must be the bearer of a new ethic of responsibility and politics.
- SUBSTANCE: The youth Democratic Party must become the bearer of a great battle to promote meritocracy at all levels of our society, schools, universities, in the workplace and in institutions. The future of our country can not fall into the trap of networks of patronage hiring, but must be given to the best energies that the company is able to express.
- WORK: Young people today live with a dramatic condition of precariousness unsustainable approach the world of work. The task of the youth of the PD must be to formulate proposals to reconcile the flexibility required by the job tenure in a position to give certainty to the condition of the young worker.
- SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES ': School and university must be both places of culture and preparation the world of work. We need to return, along with school and university associations of trade unionism, to act in those contexts, fighting privileges, enhancing human and intellectual resources, demanding the full implementation of the right to education.
- PEACE, HUMAN RIGHTS AND ENVIRONMENT we do not want to be only dreaming of a universal peace, but we want to be its builders. The protection of human rights has become an imperative for a major reformist party. The youth must be the vanguard of the Democratic Party as regards environmental issues, managing to translate into concrete proposals for the principles of the new environmentalism of yes.
